Religious Education

Registration for Religious Education Program now is Open!!!

Dear Parents,

We are happy to announce that Saint Patrick Catholic Church will be offering a hybrid Religious Education program this year. What does that mean? It means that you can choose to enroll your children in either in-person or digital classes.

In-Person classes: If you choose to enroll your children in in-person classes, the classes will meet on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sundays of each month starting October 4th, 2020 and running throughout Spring. Classes are from 9:15 am to 10:40 am in the basement of St. Patrick. The sacramental preparation classes (First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation) will have additional sessions. Class schedules can be found in your child’s individual calendar.

Digital Classes: If you choose digital classes, we recognize that many parents now have additional responsibilities of home-based learning for their children.  For that reason, we have chosen a program that is family oriented and can be incorporated into your busy schedule. The program is centered on the Sunday liturgy. Each child will receive a Catechism handbook, What the Church Believes and Teaches, plus 32 weekly Gospel-based lessons.  The Catechism handbook helps children to understand the basics of the Catholic faith while the weekly lessons help them apply the lessons to their daily lives. Pflaum, the publisher, provides you with a simple to use, two-page parent teaching guide for each lesson.  For families with multiple age-groups, there is an option to use just one lesson plan for all of your children.  Pflaum has wonderful online resources such as short videos that explain the Gospel stories, activities, games, assessments, which you may choose to use to enhance your learning experience.

Sunday Scriptures are the foundation of the Gospel Weeklies.   If your family is not able to attend Mass, you can read the Sunday Scriptures together, watch Mass on our Facebook page, and then use the Gospel Weeklies as a way to further discuss the Gospel story.
